ABOUT ME
Dr. Berta Balmes

Improving people's lives is my goal as a therapist. I am Dr. Balmes and for the past 15 years I have been dedicated to Health Psychology through Logotherapy. After many hours of training and specialization, and an extensive professional career, I can say that I dedicate myself to what I am passionate about. My day-to-day life is consultation, education and training workshops. I studied psychology in the United States and received my doctorate from Cambridge University.

My therapy is made up of different theoretical approaches and modalities, fundamentally logotherapy, which I adapt to the unique needs of each client. I offer short-term counseling, long-term psychotherapy and group sessions. I can also teach sessions via Telephone, Zoom, WhatsApp and Face-time.

THERAPY

I believe in a therapy of understanding, respect and without prejudice where the importance of authenticity, vulnerability, safety and emotional therapeutic support is essential; It is a personal commitment from a sensitive and compassionate approach; It is a process of help in personal and professional development; It is a path of accompaniment where you listen and try to understand to find yourself in peace.

SPECIALIZATION

I am specialized in the treatment of emotional problems in the adult and child and adolescent population, in Spanish and English. I have training in trauma, attachment, attachment, personality, transition, grief, bullying, and suicide. Personal and relationship dynamics (whatever they may be), as well as the grieving processes, are very important and necessary on a daily basis, since they can generate well-being, discomfort, but also healing.

EMPATHY

I recognize the importance of finding a therapist who matches the expectations, hopes and desires for change that one sets for themselves when seeking help. Therefore, I will focus on your experience and your perception of the world with empathy and unconditionality. It is a brave and important step on the journey towards wellness and self-discovery. It can be difficult to ask for help when we feel lost, depressed and hopeless, and it takes a lot of courage to decide that you are ready to do something about how you feel or what is happening in or limiting your life. Therapy is a collaborative process that facilitates a deeper sense of self-understanding, acceptance, and more satisfying relationships with others and life.
